Nite at the Races |

On Sat 14 June the Club prizegiving was held along with a nite at the races. Presenting the prizes was our Chairman Terry McCaughan. A good night was had by all, but a low turn out by our members was disapointing. A lot of hard work goes in to running darts and snooker teams and we would have appreciated a bit more support from our members. Thanks to all our race sponsors and people who have helped us throughout the season. |

After some good matches in the earlier rounds this was expected to be a good, close match. On table 1 Mac beat the chef in the first frame, and on the other table Shaun McAlister left the black over the pocket to gift the next frame to Chris Davis. In frame 3 some good snooker by Shaun and a break of 54 to beat young Steven McAuley. Then it was the experienced Paul McAlister up against Mac, Paul having a couple 20+ breaks, then mac took all the colours down to the pink to stay in the frame, then a long black won it for Mac putting his team up 3-1. The next frame was all one way traffic with young Steven beating Chef easily. Chris Davis rounded it of with a good win over Paul to win the cup. I hear the Fountain want to put a team in next year because Mac has been on the winning team 4 years now, ha. |

victoria 4v3 clonlee- after victoria beating st.comgalls in the semi they looked liked favourites to beat clonlee who had a walk-over against drumalis. with ryan otoole taking the first frame for vict, it was up to sean to beat his favourite nephew which he did. next up was 2 old timers, big d and billy ashe who beat clonlees young international star gary j an we danny. then it was the experienced chris davis who beat the chef and mac beating simon, clonlee thought it was over with much improved dean playing granda vinnie. Age and experience showed when vinnie made dean look like a we boy beating him easily and winning the only prise victoria will ever win, well done handsome gang. |

The big match this week was on tues night, with Mac, Chrissy D and Young Steven McAuley against steady Laurence, Flat Eric and The Hurricane Fran Donnelly. Fran not only won his first frame against Steven but he then went on to beat Mac in the next, but the Secretary will be sending him a letter for that win. This match went down to the wire and Chrissy won it in the last frame. Fran had his fan club in the room next door praying for him, well the Legion of Mary meet there every tues night. We will be looking at the H/Caps for next year, think your gettin too much Fran +65, maybe flat Eric could do with some more points. |

snooker competitions |

There will be an update of all competitions in the club and league on this site every friday. The league individuals, Dr Scott Cup and the Hugh Beggs 3-a-sides will all be played over the next two months. The Billirds is at the semi-finals stage with Big D against the in-form Dean McDonagh and Big Joe against Mac. Also the Jimmy Mooney 3-a-sides will start in 3 weeks, With Dean, Danny and Mac defending thier Crown or will they split that team up? I will keep this up to date as much as possible, but do keep an eye on the snooker noticeboard. A. McIlwaine. |
